🚧 Construction Update: Palisades Basin No. 69 Project 🚧

The City of Los Angeles Department of Public Works is beginning improvements to the Palisades Basin No. 69 to restore debris capture capacity before the upcoming rainy season. Construction will take place on Avenida de Santa Ynez and Palisades Drive from July 6 through October 15, 2026, and will include excavation, asphalt demolition, restoration work, and debris removal. Residents should expect slower traffic and a one-lane merge through the construction zone, while access to sidewalks, driveways, trash service, and deliveries will remain available. Thank you for your patience as this important project helps improve stormwater infrastructure and prepares the community for the rainy season.

Community Recovery Lab: Resilience

The Palisades Recovery Coalition is convening a two-day Community Recovery Lab (CRL) focused on one of the most important questions facing our community: Resilience

Over two full-day sessions on August 22 and August 29, a cohort of Palisadians will work together to explore resilience in both our built environment—including homes, infrastructure, utilities, and neighborhoods—and our natural environment, from landscapes and ecosystems to wildfire mitigation strategies. Through facilitated discussion and expert presentations, participants will identify practical recommendations that can help strengthen community resilience, improve outcomes in future disasters, and support a safer, more sustainable recovery.

Fire Safe Palisades Updates

Fire Safe Palisades is working to secure a grant to help remove dead trees from private properties within the burn zone. If you have a dead tree on your property, not within the parkway(the strip between the street and sidewalk), that needs to come down, but the cost is out of reach and insurance isn't covering it, we want to hear from you.

Fill out a quick form so we can advocate for funding on your behalf!

If we're approved, we'll reach out right away with all the details!

Fire Safe Palisades has also arranged to have FREE Home Ignition Zone Evaluations for properties in the Palisades. Please pass along the HIZ waiver and calendar link to your neighbors who may be interested in getting this free assessment.

Updates on project  Pacific Coast Highway (SR-1) and Topanga Canyon Boulevard (SR-27)

The current Palisades Fire recovery work includes ongoing lane closures and traffic controls along Pacific Coast Highway (SR-1) and Topanga Canyon Boulevard (SR-27) as crews continue emergency repairs, utility work, drainage improvements, and slope stabilization. On PCH, motorists should expect intermittent single-lane closures between Temescal Canyon Road and Carbon Beach Terrace, including nighttime reductions near Big Rock Drive, while SR-27 has nighttime one-lane traffic controls for pavement and guardrail work. Both highways have reopened to the public with reduced speed limits and active work zones, but additional closures may occur as weather and construction conditions change. Caltrans continues to address fire- and storm-related damage to retaining walls, slopes, drainage systems, guardrails, signals, and other infrastructure to support long-term recovery and maintain safe access through the Palisades and Malibu. You can find more details here.
