Palisades Farmers Market Grand Re-Opening
For the first time since the devastating January 2025 Palisades Fire, the Pacific Palisades Farmers Market will return home to Swarthmore Avenue on Wednesday, August 19, marking another major milestone in the community’s recovery.
The market’s return comes just days after the grand reopening of Palisades Village and brings another longtime community gathering place back to the heart of the Palisades.
Following the fire, Councilwoman Traci Park worked with market operator Raw Inspiration to temporarily integrate displaced Palisades farmers and vendors into the Brentwood Farmers Market, helping cover associated costs so vendors could continue operating while Swarthmore Avenue remained inaccessible. Raw Inspiration is a non-profit organization behind California Certified Farmers Markets (CCFM) and has been running the Pacific Palisades market since the year 2000.
Now, Councilwoman Park is helping bring the market home, including covering the City costs associated with the street closure. She’ll be presenting farmers and organizers with recognitions at the ribbon cutting. The returning market will feature California-grown produce, fresh flowers, prepared foods and artisanal vendors. It will temporarily operate on Wednesday afternoons from 1:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m., allowing participating farmers and vendors to maintain their established Sunday market commitments.
Emergency Management Department El Nino Preparation For Potential Pacific Palisades Impacts
City officials are preparing for potential El Niño conditions, which could bring increased rainfall, flooding, coastal erosion, and mudslide risks to Pacific Palisades, especially in hillside, canyon, and bluff areas. City departments are reviewing infrastructure and drainage preparedness, with a focus on debris basins, steep hillsides, canyon areas, and the Palisades burn scar. Residents and businesses are encouraged to prepare by clearing drainage paths, protecting construction areas with tarps, using sandbags or other runoff controls, reviewing property risks, and signing up for NotifyLA and local weather and debris-flow alerts. 8th Annual Beautification Conference
On behalf of the City of Los Angeles Board of Public Works, the Office of Community Beautification, and Keep Los Angeles Beautiful, we invite you to the 8th Annual Beautification Conference. The event will take place on Saturday, September 19, 2026, at the Friendship Auditorium.
Santa Monica Canyon Channel Debris Removal
Los Angeles County Public Works will conduct debris removal and concrete repairs in the Santa Monica Canyon Channel to maintain safe stormwater flow and reduce flood risk. Work is expected to begin Thursday, August 27, and continue for approximately 5–6 weeks, Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Crews will remove unstable concrete and debris, with materials transported to the Amalfi Drive cul-de-sac for loading and hauling off-site, resulting in up to 10 truckloads per day. Residents should expect construction equipment and trucks near the work area, while Public Works coordinates traffic control to maintain safe access for residents and emergency vehicles.
Alphabets Neighborhood Cleanup
Join the Alphabets Neighborhood Cleanup on Saturday, August 22, from 9–11 AM to help clear drains, remove debris, and prepare the neighborhood for potential El Niño weather. 🌧️ Residents can also get helpful weather-preparation tips and participate in a Brush Clearance Q&A. The first 50 volunteers will receive free T-shirts and trash pickers, so come out and help keep the community clean and prepared!
The Rustic Canyon Recreation Center Pool is Open!
Rustic Canyon Pool is now open and ready to welcome the Pacific Palisades community! Pool hours are Monday–Friday from 3–7 p.m. and Saturday–Sunday from 1–5 p.m., so come enjoy the pool before summer ends.The last day to use the pool is Labor Day!
Castellammare Neighborhood Beautification
Our Beautification Team continues to conduct cleanup and restoration activities throughout the Pacific Palisades area. Tramonto Drive was cleaned, and the team also identified and removed additional drainage materials and bulky items located in the Castellammare neighborhoods.

As we prepare for storm season, taking a few simple steps now can help protect your home, family, and property. The City of Los Angeles encourages residents to clear debris from drains and gutters, use sandbags to divert—not dam—stormwater, secure loose outdoor items, and inspect slopes for signs of erosion before heavy rain arrives. Homeowners in hillside areas should also maintain drainage systems, monitor retaining walls, and have emergency supplies ready before storms begin. MySafe:LA Los Angeles Regional Fire Safe Council
MySafe:LA and the Los Angeles Regional Fire Safe Council will host a virtual Wildfire Town Hall on Thursday, August 20, 2026, from 7:00–8:30 PM Pacific Time, featuring LAFD Captain Dwayne Laurent discussing wildfire prevention, mitigation, emergency response, and recovery. Registration is required, and the town hall will also cover the proposed wildfire Joint Powers Authority, community preparedness resources, and upcoming MySafe:LA/LAFD evacuation training workshops beginning in September.
