Checking In with the Hillside Task Force - My team and I were happy to join volunteers, public safety personnel, and service providers for the Pacific Palisades Hillside Taskforce on June 10. We thank all volunteers, agency partners, and service providers for their continued commitment to protecting and serving our community.
Completing the Posetano Road Repairs Project - We are thrilled to announce that our Bureau of Engineering team and their contractor have just completed the Posetano Road (17432) Emergency Road Repairs Project. Construction for a new retaining wall structure began in November 2025 after significant structural damage took out a portion of the road and covered nearby Stretto immediately following the fire. The new retaining wall on Stretto Way and the bulkhead supporting Posetano Road will protect this area for years to come and ensure essential access for the Castellammare community.
Meeting with the Palisades Urban Forest Master Plan Team - This week my team met with the Pacific Palisades Urban Forest Master Plan team, StreetsLa’s Urban Forestry Division, LADWP, and community stakeholders to discuss the restoration and long-term vision for Pacific Palisades’ urban forest. The meeting focused on tree inventory mapping, utility coordination, infrastructure considerations, and best practices from neighboring communities. As this effort moves forward, the Palisades Forestry Committee will lead community outreach and engagement in partnership with the Pacific Palisades Community Council (PPCC). Community members can expect comprehensive outreach opportunities to learn about the Urban Forest Master Plan, provide input, and help shape the future of Pacific Palisades’ tree canopy and public landscape.
Join PRC’s Next Recovery Talk - On Tuesday June 23, the Palisades Recovery Coalition is hosting an informative Recovery Talk focused on casualty loss tax relief for survivors of wildfires, hurricanes, and floods. Learn from experts at Centura Consulting Services about potential tax deductions available following federally declared disasters and gain valuable resources to support your recovery journey. Together, we continue rebuilding a stronger and more resilient Pacific Palisades community.
LADBS’s Standard Plan Program for Rebuilding - The Los Angeles Department of Building and Safety (LADBS) offers the Standard Plan Program as a resource to help streamline the permitting and plan check process. The program significantly reduces review times for projects such as single-family homes, ADUs, swimming pools, patio covers, stairways, signs, and more. Standard Plans are designed by private engineers and reviewed by LADBS to ensure compliance with Building, Residential, and Green Codes. Property owners interested in using a Standard Plan must still obtain a building permit and provide site-specific plans showing how the structure will be adapted to their property. Learn more here!
Prepare for Brush Clearance Season - A message from LAFD: “Brush clearance season is here, and it’s an important part of keeping our community safe—especially in high fire risk areas like the Palisades. Starting May 1, 2026, all properties in the Very High Fire Hazard Severity Zone will be inspected, regardless of whether they were impacted by the recent fire. Some fire-affected properties may qualify for an exemption from the initial $31 inspection fee, but please note that all properties will still be inspected for compliance. If a property does not meet brush clearance requirements, the owner will receive a Notice of Non-Compliance with details on what needs to be fixed and a deadline to complete the work. Properties that are not exempt and fail the first inspection will be charged the $31 fee, and if issues are not corrected by the second inspection, an additional $758 non-compliance fee may be applied. Taking care of brush clearance early not only helps you avoid penalties, but more importantly, it plays a critical role in protecting your home, your neighbors, and our entire community.” View the 2026 Mailer and instructions here!
