Get Ready to Underground: As part of LADWP’s wildfire resilience and modernization efforts, neighborhoods will transition to underground power in phases. Homeowners rebuilding now have a unique chance to install the needed infrastructure upfront—avoiding future excavation and protecting driveways, hardscaping, and landscaping when undergrounding reaches their block. Check out the newly released guidance from LADWP here!
Karen Knecht’s “You Are Here” Photo Exhibit: You Are Here was a powerful photo exhibit by Karen Knecht that opened January 10 at Gallery 169. The exhibition reflected Karen’s evacuation from Rustic and Santa Monica Canyon during last year’s fires and the profound aftermath that followed. During a six-month stay at a Marina del Rey hotel, she formed deep bonds with other displaced women, whose stories anchored the work. Centered on five women evacuees, the exhibit paired candid photographs with written vignettes exploring resilience, mutual support, and human connection. Karen Knecht and featured co-evacuee Rose Robinson—daughter of Jackie Robinson, who was evacuated from the Eaton Fire—were in attendance during the final showings.

Santa Ynez Reservoir Floating Cover Replacement Updates: “LADWP is moving forward with replacing the 15-year-old floating cover on the Santa Ynez Reservoir, which provides drinking water for the Pacific Palisades. The new cover will reduce the risk of unplanned outages and protect water quality while construction is underway. Water service will continue uninterrupted, with emergency contingencies in place to maintain supply if needed. The project includes upgrades to the cover and mechanical systems, with completion expected in Fall 2026. LADWP is also evaluating long-term solutions to ensure the reservoir’s resilience and compliance with state and federal water regulations.” Read more here and follow along on the dedicated project page.
Our Electric Future Event: We loved being part of Our Electric Future, presented by Resilient Palisades and joined with Pali Veg Fest. It was inspiring to see the Palisades community come together for a full day of great food, clean energy demonstrations, family activities, and meaningful connection—all centered on rebuilding smarter and stronger after wildfire.
