1. Palisades Recovery Pop-Up at American Legion

Last weekend, the Palisades Long-Term Recovery Group, Global Empowerment Mission (GEM), and Rotary District 5280 hosted a well-attended Palisades Recovery Pop-Up at American Legion Post 283. Fire survivors connected with service providers, took part in wellness workshops, and received direct support as they continue navigating the long rebuild.

2. Palibu Recovery Expo Rescheduled to November 23

The Malibu-Pacific Palisades Chamber of Commerce held its rescheduled Palibu Recovery Expo, bringing together insurance experts, remediators, contractors, architects, and public agencies. Neighbors had the chance to ask questions, compare resources, and get direct guidance on rebuilding and permitting.

3. "Paradise Abandoned: Palisades" Documentary Screenings

Two community screenings of the new Paradise Abandoned: Palisades documentary took place this week, drawing strong attendance and emotional responses. The film highlights the devastation of the January fire and the ongoing struggle to rebuild. Dozens of residents turned out for the second showing, which included a discussion with local organizers.

4. Holiday Events Return to the Palisades

The neighborhood kicked off the holiday season with several traditions, including the annual Turkey Trot, which brought hundreds of families and runners together early Thanksgiving moming. Additional holiday activities and volunteer events are scheduled throughout December.

5. Upcoming Community Visioning Work

RAND, AlA, and recovery partners will continue community visioning work in December as part of the long-term rebuild planning. Residents — including mobile-home communities and those who missed earlier sessions — wil have new opportunities to participate and help shape the future layout and resiliency prionties of the Palisades.

6. Security Reminders for Rebuild Sites

As construction activity continues across the bum area, LAPD and public safety partners are asking builders and homeowners to secure tools, lock gates, tag high-value equipment, and install lighting and cameras where possible These steps help reduce thefts and keep rebuild sites safe during the holiday season.
