Homeowners Guide For Flood, Debris Flow, And Erosion Control

As we prepare for storm season, taking a few simple steps now can help protect your home, family, and property. The City of Los Angeles encourages residents to clear debris from drains and gutters, use sandbags to divert—not dam—stormwater, secure loose outdoor items, and inspect slopes for signs of erosion before heavy rain arrives. Homeowners in hillside areas should also maintain drainage systems, monitor retaining walls, and have emergency supplies ready before storms begin. Being prepared today can reduce the risk of flooding, debris flows, and erosion tomorrow. Learn more in the City of Los Angeles Homeowners Guide for Flood, Debris Flow, and Erosion Control.

LA County Public Works- Debris and Mudflow Forecast Alert

Los Angeles County Public Works has issued a NO PHASE forecast for all recent burn areas. The debris flow forecast is valid from Saturday, October 10, 2026, at 9:00 PM to Tuesday, October 13, 2026, at 6:00 PM. This means that while rain is expected between Saturday night and Tuesday evening, it is not heavy enough to trigger significant mudslides or street-blocking debris flows in your local burn areas. You shouldn't experience major disruptions to public roads, and your home is considered safe unless authorities have previously instructed you to evacuate anytime it rains.

Post-Fire Debris Flow Hazards View Maps LA County (Public Use)

Los Angeles County Public Works’ Debris Flow Forecasts assess potential debris-flow impacts in recently burned watershed areas based on weather, rainfall, watershed recovery, soil moisture, and other conditions. Forecasts are generally prepared for areas affected by major fires within the past four years and updated as storms approach. Debris Flow Phases range from No Phase (minimal potential) to Phase III (significant, widespread debris-flow potential and possible impacts to roads and structures). This hosted layer provides public access to the forecast data to keep our communities informed on the prospective risks of debris flow as we enter into the wet weather season.

Aiglon Plaza Planting

A wonderful day of community, planting, and giving back at Aiglon Plaza! 🌿🌳

Neighbors came together to plant more than 300 native species and help transform this pocket park into a beautiful native habitat garden for the community to enjoy.

A special thank you to Palisades Beautiful, the Rotary Club of Marina del Rey, and everyone who came out to lend a hand and make this project possible. Together, we’re making a difference—one neighborhood at a time! 💚

LADWP and Alphabet Neighbors

LADWP and Alphabet neighbors came together for a great community outreach meeting at Palisades High School, helping homeowners and contractors learn more about the permanent and temporary power and water system checklists, get their questions answered, and receive valuable information about utility undergrounding.

A special shoutout to Alphabet Block Captains for engaging with LADWP and bringing these important resources directly to the community. CD11 is always ready to support the hard work and efforts of our Block Captains and the Pacific Palisades Community Council (PPCC) as we continue working together to support the Palisades community.
