State Fire Relief Updates - Governor Newsom has announced a proposed effort to close insurance gaps for fire survivors, new commitments from financial institutions to provide mortgage relief and forthcoming expanded eligibility for the CalAssist Mortgage Fund Disaster Relief Program. Currently the CalAssist program provides grants for three months of mortgage payments, a maximum of $20,000 per household, for households making up to $211,050 in Los Angeles County. Letter from Assessor on Post-Disaster Assessment Standards – County Assessor Jeffrey Prang has sent a letter to the Board of Supervisors outlining the implementation of post-disaster property assessment standards following the wildfires. The guidelines recognize rebuilds within the 110% threshold as “substantially equivalent” for properties destroyed in the January 2025 fires. Wildfire Vehicle Restoration Contest - Coulson Aviation has announced a Wildfire Vehicle Restoration Contest for fire survivors whose vehicles were damaged or lost in the Palisades and Eaton Fires.
