This week marked three years since a major City operation reopened the Culver Median to the public. Since that effort, ongoing work has focused on maintaining the area through regular beautification, coordination with nearby residents, and the expansion of bike lane access and related improvements. District staff continue engaging with families and community members to address concerns and ensure the median remains safe and accessible.
In Playa Vista, the Council District partnered with Los Angeles County on a joint operation along Alla Road and the Ballona Creek corridor. The coordinated effort prioritized public safety, restored access to shared public spaces, and connected individuals to available services. Nuisance vehicles creating traffic hazards and quality-of-life impacts were also addressed. The City and County plan to continue working together to maintain safety and cleanliness along the corridor.
As part of these efforts, Los Angeles County Public Works is completing fencing improvements at the end of Alla Road near Ballona Creek. The upgrades are intended to enhance safety, limit unsafe access points, and support long-term maintenance of the area.
In Venice, a long-standing public safety issue along Lincoln Boulevard was resolved with the removal of an unpermitted recreational vehicle that had remained in place for months. The vehicle had obstructed traffic and was associated with unauthorized electrical connections, illegal activity, and repeated sanitation impacts along the sidewalk. District staff indicated that enforcement and monitoring will continue to ensure streets and sidewalks remain clear.
In Pacific Palisades, cleanup work along Sunset Boulevard was completed this week by the LA Conservation Corps. Crews are scheduled to begin similar public right-of-way improvements along Bienvenida Avenue next week.
In West Los Angeles, work continues along Santa Monica Boulevard as part of Caltrans’ State Route 2 Multimodal Project. The project includes sidewalk upgrades and roadway improvements designed to enhance safety and accessibility for all users.
